Pull apart bread is one of the first things I learned to bake. The first one was jalapeno cheese bread, which is made the same way, just subbing the ingredients. It's so easy to make and it tastes soooooo good right out of the oven. And made with olives and cheese?? Oh my gosh! We can't get enough of it.
Here are the ingredients:
- 1 package of 5/16 oz active dry yeast
- 2 1/4 cup of warm water
- 3 tablespoons of sugar
- 1 1/2 tablespoons of salt
- 3 tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil
- 6 1/2 to 7 cups of flour
- 8 oz shredded cheese
- 1 cup of chopped green and black olives
First add your warm water to the bottom of a large mixing bowl. Add in the sugar.
Here is the yeast I used.
Next sprinkle the yeast over the water and sugar. Let it sit for about 5 minutes, until it gets foamy.
Once it has sat, it will look like this.
Next add in the olive oil and salt.
Followed by 6 cups of flour.
Turn on your mixer with the dough hook attached and let it knead everything together for about a minute. If the dough is still sticky add more flour, about a quarter cup at a time, up to 7 cups. Once it's no longer sticky, knead the dough for 5 to 7 minutes. This can be done by hand as well.
Turn the dough out of the bowl, onto a counter or work surface and oil your bowl. Add the dough back to the bowl and let it rise for about an hour and a half. Until it has doubled in size.
Here it is doubled.
Chop your olives and shred your cheese.
Punch the dough down, and flip it out of your bowl.
Spray your Bundt pan with olive oil cooking spray. Then start breaking the dough apart with your hands. Adding it to the pan.
*Note:. You could use 2 9 x 13" loaf pans instead of the Bundt pan, and save half for later if you prefer.
Once you have a small layer, add in some olives and cheese.
Add more bread dough and continue, layering dough, olives and cheese, until you have used it all. Finishing with olives, then cheese.
Set aside and let it rest another 30 minutes. About 5 minutes before it has finished resting, preheat your oven to 375°.
Bake for 30 to 35 minutes.
Let it cool for 10 minutes. You can slice it or just pull it apart.
