Boudin & Pepper Jack Stuffed Bread
Today we had the envie for some stuffed bread. It's really easy to make and is always a crowd pleaser. You can stuff it with anything really, pizza toppings, etoufee, rice dressing... The possibilities are endless. We really like the combination of boudin and pepper jack cheese so that's what we went with today.
Here's what you'll need.:
1/2 recipe of French bread dough (recipe here)
1 lb of boudin
4 oz of pepper jack cheese
1 egg, beaten
Lay your bread dough out on a bit of flour, so it doesn't stick. You can also use store bought frozen bread dough if you like, just make sure it's thawed out.
Next, you'll need to roll it out to about 1/2 inch thickness.
Take your boudin out of the casing and lay it across the middle of the dough.
Smash it down a bit, to where it's evenly distributed over the center of the dough, then slice and add your pepper jack cheese over the top.
Fold the dough over the ends first, then pull over the bottom dough over the middle and end with the top dough overlapping the bottom dough. Pinch it closed. If your dough is a little dried out from the flour, use a little bit of water rubbed on the dough to make it sticky, then pinch it well to seal it up.
Once it's sealed, flip it over, seam side down onto a buttered pan, or a pan lined with parchment paper.
Brush it with olive oil, and let it rise in a warm place for another 20 minutes.
Brush the dough with a beaten egg, and bake at 350° for about 20 minutes.
